Photoshop help on black and white photos?

I find it so confusing.

I wanted to make the photo black and white then choose which bits i want in color.

I've got photoshop 4.0.

Click on Threshold.
im not sure if photoshop 4.0 has it, but you could try using magic wand or magnetic lasso. they would be the best to use
adjust hue/saturation. you can change any colour into any other colour.
was the photo that you uploaded on here photoshopped? because the photo looks disfigured.
